Smarter innovation

The recent acceleration in Artificial Intelligence capabilities has set forth a seismic shift in the way businesses operate, unlocking new opportunities for innovation. From automating mundane tasks to creating smart solutions that enhance user experience, the capabilities of AI are limitless. Arguably the biggest change for individual companies will be how they use AI to solve customers' pain points.

Creative use of AI is enabling companies to deliver all kinds of new innovations for their customers. Using their insight and creativity, they are using AI to create novel, and sometimes highly disruptive, new products and services, pioneering all kinds of new experiences.

Out-innovating your competition

The use of AI is not the goal of course, merely the means. But those businesses that can gain a deep understanding of their customers' pain points and are prepared to dream of the impossible, are the ones that might find that AI can the differentiator in unlocking solutions that had otherwise not been attainable. To get started there are some simple steps to take:

  1. Review Customer Pain Points: re-evaluate the material and insights you have on customer issues, but through a fresh lens of how technology might solve the issue.
  2. Decide On The Scale Of The Solution. What kind of solution is needed? Is it purely functional or something bigger that solves a deeper rooted customer need that could disrupt the category? What are the trade-offs between resources, scope and time?
  3. Conduct AI Research: List AI technologies that can potentially solve the identified problems. Prioritize by feasibility, impact, cost and time to market. If the solution is particularly innovative, pay extra attention to the feasibilty and ensure you have fully assessed the executional risks, both the ability to deploy but also any changes in customer behavior that might be needed.
  4. Run Pilot Tests. Implement the chosen AI in a small, controlled environment. Monitor KPIs and customer feedback to measure effectiveness.
  5. Evaluate and Iterate. Review the results of the pilot tests. If successful, scale the implementation; if not, return to the drawing board to select another type of AI or tweak the existing one.
